David Stratton The Australian The fires themselves are frighteningly well staged, and by the film's conclusion the courage and dedication of these firemen has been amply demonstrated. It's a pity that the film that tells their story wasn't a little less clunky. Rated: 2.5/5 Dec 2, 2017 Full Review Paul Byrnes Sydney Morning Herald It deserves credit for the way it tells a difficult story. Rated: 3.5/5 Dec 1, 2017 Full Review Kristen Lopez Spectrum Culture The story of the Granite Mountain Hotshots deserves a better movie. Rated: 2/5 Nov 20, 2017 Full Review Vadim Rizov Filmmaker Magazine This is a fine, illuminating look at a niche culture that bodes surprisingly well for Kosinski’s forthcoming Top Gun 2... Jan 5, 2023 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies All of this relationship building and character development fuels the final act which, despite some predictable narrative setup, has a profound dramatic kick Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 24, 2022 Full Review Hosea Rupprecht Pauline Media Studies While honoring firefighters and their self-sacrifice, the real gift of Only The Brave is the example given through the strength of the community forged by the wildfires... Peter P Wow. I dont want to give a single thing away, so wont comment on the plot. this is a must see. the acting, the pacing, the storyline, the character arcs, the production, the music tie-ins, the directing. everything!! one of my fav’s now. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/17/25 Full Review Daniel M Decent, if by the numbers, true story drama. Brolin,Teller and Connelly are brilliant as always though, and the scenes with fire are great. Reminds me of the blazes in 'Backdraft'. Almost seems alive. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/01/25 Full Review Audience Member The firefighters who lost their lives are worth a better movie. By all means it’s not a bad movie. But some scenes that have no character ar plot growth could be left behind. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/25 Full Review Marcella B I wanted to love this movie, but it undermined the great premise by being too sentimental and slow. I understand that the filmmaker wanted to honor the true story of the firefighters it was based on. But, as a result, the script ended up too predicable, never really surprising me with where it was going, and with too many 'speeches' from the characters. I streamed it, and ended up fast forwarding through parts in order to get to the end to find out what happened. I liked Josh Brolin and Miles Teller in this movie, but Jennifer Connelly was put in a wife/girlfriend role that I didn't buy. It just needed to be shorter, tighter, and not so adoring in the characterization. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/22/25 Full Review A.L.Jude P A true event made to wallop emotions yet a great movie. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/25 Full Review Cavanagh W I watched this movie on an airplane. I downloaded it right before I left for the airport and had no expectations or prior knowledge about the movie besides the fact that miles teller is in it. With that said, the movie is amazing. Really thought that Miles was incredible in the movie, and thoroughly enjoyed his character arc. I also love to see Tim Riggins in movies. that dude is so cool. However, didn't really care about the background of the fire chief or whatever. He's a cool dude but I kinda didn't care. The ending also is heart-wrenching. Overall, I highly recommend this movie and I think it will give you a serious respect for fire fighters. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/13/25 Full Review Read all reviews
