A modern slasher about a young woman starting a new life after a term in prison for trying to kill her serial killer boyfriend. Excellent psychological and gory fare from Padraig Reynolds. Go to Full Review

Despite a solid central performance from Grasse and some watchable gore-soaked sequences, Open 24 Hours buckles under the weight of trying to subvert expectations... Go to Full Review
Michael Gingold Rue Morgue Magazine 08/19/2020
Reynolds prioritizes shock moments over psychological acuity, and occasional implausibilities--like the roomiest gas-station bathroom you'll ever see--don't help. Go to Full Review

A pit-stop bloodbath that attempts various narrative tricks, yet follows in footsteps that've been worn flat-and-smooth by too many other indie horror filmmakers to count. Go to Full Review

Issues arise with the script's reliance on coincidences and unlikely decisions, but if you're willing to bear with that, this is a great example of how to make an effective film with scant resources - and a film that has something to say. Go to Full Review

Open 24 Hours is a good, tense film that is well-written, well-acted, and done with a good attention to detail. Go to Full Review

Steve F Sep 27 This movie literally made me mad to watch. The script was absolutely horrible. The main character was so helpless it was ridiculous. In parts there was blood splashed all over the characters face and then gone the next moment. It was so careless it was annoying. It had the potential to be a decent slasher but the lack of effort and script killed it for me. See more Thomas V Sep 20 For an indie horror film I thought this was well done. Acting is solid all around, plot was easy to follow and I enjoyed the psychological horror aspect which gave the film life and had me second guessing my own thoughts throughout. Only slight issue I had with it was the 3rd act where I felt it followed a lot of horror movie predictability in my opinion, though not the worse ending, also not the best but it works. All in all, it was a well put together movie and a good watch, totally stuck with me and I would recommend this to other horror fans. Also, someone who hallucinates to the extent that she does, wouldn't be able to function independently in society at all- she would need constant supervision. Gas station/convenience stores are often the setting for thrillers and this space is well utilized. The villain is too much of a Jason-type - indestructible, and always one step ahead of the victims. The killings are sufficiently gruesome. See more Jason W Jul 17 Great movie. The acting was fantastic and the production was great. Sure, besides the substance of the story being fairly straight forward, the characters were well put together, the climax had some good twists and the special fx gore was stellar. I really tried to look for flaws but didn't find an abundance enough to call it out on. Again, the cast did wonderful and kept the movie as a whole intriguing. See more john d Feb 19 honestly i thought this movie was extremely terrible if you aren't the average movie watcher, it doesn't know whether it wants to be a slasher or a psychological thriller or a mystery and combines awful tropes of each into one steaming pile of mediocrity. even if i tried to look past all of that, there are WAY too many plot holes and stupid decisions from all characters that make it seem incredibly unrealistic. the worst moment is when the officer gets shot while on the radio to dispatch while the girl screams "NO!!" at the top of her lungs and no other officers show up to the scene for hours... between that and there not being a swarm of officers in the area searching for a KNOWN ESCAPED SERIAL KILLER THAT KILLED 35 WOMEN is just insane and hard to believe. top it off with all the stupid kills, the poor story, the terrible decisions by all characters, the bad reliance on psychological events and worst of all the cliche horror movie ending and you have a recipe for a waste of an hour and a half of your life. if this movie was trying to convey an actual point it seriously missed the mark. i would avoid this movie like the plague See more Trevor B Jan 5 Open 24 Hours was really good!!!
