Kevin Carr 7M Pictures Like the previous film, it doesn't take itself too seriously. It's not high art, but it's fun and silly for kids and families. Rated: 3/5 Mar 5, 2009 Full Review Bill Gibron Filmcritic.com It's not a classic, but it's not a clunker either. Rated: 3/5 Feb 19, 2009 Full Review Brian Orndorf DVDTalk.com Even though it's cursed with a small budget and a complete overhaul of the voice cast, Season 2 is a gentle charmer, yet even more importantly, it's practically A Night at the Opera compared to the first film. Rated: B Jan 25, 2009 Full Review Brian Webster Apollo Guide Now and again, the humour is quite effective and the spoof of RV road warriors hits the mark, but more often, the jokes are higher on energy than they are on laugh generation. brayden w By the one, the only, the QUACK-tastic Daffy Duck! Alright, buckaroos, you thought I was spicy in my Open Season 3 review? Well get ready to crank up the sass, because Open Season 2 is like finding out the chocolate fountain at the buffet is actually gravy. 😤 🦌 Plot Overview (Hold onto your antlers): So get this—Mr. Wild Eyes himself, Elliot, is about to get married to Giselle (finally, am I right?) when his little buddy Mr. Weenie—yes, the sausage dog—is kidnapped by a bunch of hoity-toity house pets! What follows is a rescue mission that’s part “Mission: Im-paws-ible,” part “Soap Opera for Squirrels.” Now listen, I like a good rescue caper. I mean, who doesn’t enjoy some hijinks? But this? This was like watching a pack of squirrels try to defuse a bomb. Chaotic, kinda cute, but mostly an adorable mess. 🐾 New Characters (aka, who invited these guys?): There’s this poodle named Fifi who thinks he’s all that—well excuse me, Your Royal Poofiness! He’s the villain, and frankly, I’ve seen more intimidating chihuahuas in Beverly Hills. The rest of the domesticated crew? Yawn. Not a single one of ‘em could out-weird even my left foot. 🎤 Voice Acting: Okay, okay—once again, no original cast. That’s like replacing me with a duck from a high school drama club! It’s just not the same. Joel McHale steps in as Elliot, and he does alright… but you can hear that it’s not the original vibe. And Boog? Less lovable goof, more “confused gym teacher.” 🎨 Animation (aka the visual rollercoaster): Let me be kind here… it looks like they animated this one using a potato. Maybe two potatoes if the budget stretched. It’s fine, but if you compare it to the first film? Yikes. Textures are flat, backgrounds are meh, and the lighting? About as exciting as a beige wallpaper convention. 😂 Comedy (This duck has standards, people!): There are a few solid gags here and there, especially when the forest animals clash with the spoiled pets. But most of the jokes feel like they were written by a committee of slightly tired beavers. I chuckled maybe twice, and I cackle at my own reflection daily. 🎯 Final Daffy-nition: Open Season 2 is like when a magician pulls out a rubber chicken instead of a rabbit. You wanted the magic, but hey, at least it’s still poultry. It tries hard to be a fun, fast-paced buddy adventure… but it just doesn’t have the heart (or polish) of the first one. Still, it’s got enough goofy charm to entertain the kids—or adult ducks like me if I’ve had enough root beer. ⭐ Daffy Score: 2.75 out of 5 falling anvils Slightly more entertaining than part 3, but still not exactly “Duck Season” material, if you know what I mean. 😉 Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/10/25 Full Review Tiffani L Amazing best ever so cool Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/02/25 Full Review Fifth 3 Open Season 2 is a peak movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/27/25 Full Review Leovanni E This one just sucks, all of the good voice actors literally left Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/07/25 Full Review Audience Member This was mid. It throws away everything that made the first Open Season good. Instead it focuses on dogs and apparently Mr Weenie is the center focus of this film. I don't even think this should be called open season since it has nothing to do with Open Season. The plot is pretty janky, not to mention the crappy pacing. The characters are pretty boring, but McSquizzy might honestly be the best character. But even then it's just forgettable. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/25 Full Review EwanDoggie B Way better than the first movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/21/24 Full Review Read all reviews
