Audience Member Terrible horrible cringy movie starring Halle berry. Tea cake is kinda the best part of the movie and book. The ending was crazy good though but everything else sucked. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Terrible horrible cringy movie starring Halle berry. Tea cake is kinda the best part of the movie and book. The ending was crazy good though but everything else sucked. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/19 Full Review Audience Member I teach this novel and only watch the book to make a comparison and contrast between the book and the movie. We notice that the casting selection caused them to edit out large portions of the book that revealed distinct characterization. We make the clear distinctions between how the main characters are portrayed in the novel and movie. It's a disappointment to view it as anything but a contrast to the novel. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member A great story about life. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Very good remake from a book written by Nora Zeale of the Harlem Renaissance Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Like most tv adaptations, the plot drifts to far apart for unnecessary reasons that make it dull. Tom Shales Washington Post Winfrey does try to offer TV entertainment of value and with values. But her latest ABC movie, "Their Eyes Were Watching God," is almost comically predictable... Jun 9, 2018 Full Review Jas Keimig The Stranger (Seattle, WA) I think the film's concentration on the novel's romantic beats isn't a fault, but rather it speaks to the complexity of Hurston's story.
