Strangers Olivia and Amir both arrive coincidentally at their friend Teddy's to collect money he owes them. Each desperate for cash, they follow Teddy's orders to visit an elusive Harlem figure, Uptown Mike, to get the cash. Waiting for Mike to arrive home, Olivia and Amir are stuck on a journey together through NYC: on the subway, eating lunch, walking through Central Park, all while bonding over disagreements about sex, dating, religion, and death. They finally reveal why they both need money, though one of them is not completely truthful.

I am in love with Or Something, a film for the moment that, no matter where one is or how they are feeling, will take them on an emotional, rugged journey where we can all hopefully come out more empathetic and alive. Go to Full Review

Or Something‘s strength is in how well-written [its] conversations are, and how authentically they’re carried by the performances of Neely and Rahma. Go to Full Review

Or Something is definitely a film created post-pandemic by two millennial influencers who need to talk about the cultural landscape in regards to heterosexual relationships and its dynamics to the world. Go to Full Review

Comedy partners since 2021, Rahma and Neely are attuned to each other's rhythms, both as writers and performers, and the ease they have working with each other (even when their characters are in conflict) creates a chemistry that you can't buy. Go to Full Review

Nikita Aug 24 Great depiction of iconic NYC places that make it feel like the city is a character of the movie as well. Beautiful performances by actors, interesting mix of some comedy and drama, and an overall captivating plot! See more Crescent V 5d This is an amazing, must-see movie for every adult who lives in our world today. The camerawork is worthy of Taxi Driver. The dialogue reminds me of My Dinner with Andre. The peripatetic intense acting is like Reality Bites. This film rocks! The whole thing hangs together like the best short-stories, and the film is quite short at 81 minutes. I love the characters, flawed as they are. Totally believable, even though some of the "plot" is predictable. But that's the point: this is not a movie about plot. It's about characters, and ideas, and being. Especially being in New York: not the Plaza Hotel, landmark-y parts, but the gritty Brooklyn and Harlem parts. I liked the tense, terse dialogue about men and women - dating and fears (both of them are so afraid!). Porn and isolation. What does it mean to be a gentleman? a feminist? A good person? Should we follow rules? Why? I almost never write reviews - I was motivated to write this one b/c the film has so few! I really want to help get the word out on this gem, this obscure little movie that hits the nail on the head!
