T T Not a good movie at all. Our hero and heroine don't make intelligent choices from the beginning of the movie until the end. The storyline and plot were bland. There wasn't enough "meat" to make an entire movie out of it. This concept could have been a good subplot in a bigger movie. But as a standalone concept, it just was not enough to make a movie out of it. Finally, the ending was not creative or witty. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Late R Writer/director Hatem Khraiche does well with what's clearly a limited budget in the visual department. As for the story, ‘Orbiter 9' has a familiar, but interesting idea that has the potential for some deep discussion on various topics, but disappointingly neglects to explore any of them. Instead, it focuses more on the romance angle which, thanks to Álex González and especially Clara Lago, works well enough. At the end of the day, it's a bit of a let-down, but does just enough to keep you engaged. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/03/22 Full Review Robert W Not very inventive. Acting is ok. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/04/21 Full Review georgan g Clever twist on space travel & caring for planet earth, but with a somewhat unsatisfying end. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Good Movie and ending Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member If you want to see what an istagram filter clutching independent Youtube artist might do to fill an hour and a half with 20 minutes worth of content then you came to the right place. The initial concept has potential but they throw it right out the window well before the halfway mark. Too slow paced to enjoy for "funny bad" reasons. Spoiler(?): the wild part is that by never acknowledging her inability to survive on a life supporting planet, there's no way the people they send to Celeste will survive either. That missing plot point is the trunk of a tree blossoming with plot holes, as well as dialogue that would only fit the premise if lobotomies were mandatory, which honestly became more believable than I'm comfortable acknowledging ever since 2016 happened. Dan Jackson Thrillist These stories skimp on breathless adventure and cosmic detours; instead, they're all about surviving. Orbiter 9 suggests if you have to rough it out in space, do it with someone you love. Jun 28, 2018 Full Review Becky Kukla Film Inquiry There seems to be a kind of renaissance in space exploration in film and television at the moment. Orbiter 9 is a nice addition to this canon of films, but it doesn't really add that much to the conversation. May 16, 2018 Full Review Eddie Strait The Daily Dot Orbiter 9 starts as a compelling sci-fi piece, then the plot kicks in and it becomes dull. It's a shame because the story has the heft to carry a better movie but it's ultimately another misfire for Netflix. Apr 13, 2018 Full Review Kayla Cobb Decider ... you'll find the film's central love story is one of the more insightful and surprisingly romantic space relationships in this galaxy. Apr 13, 2018 Full Review Janire Zurbano Cinemanía (Spain) A good idea that languishes... [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 2.5/5 Apr 10, 2018 Full Review Brian Costello Common Sense Media Sci-fi tale with slow build and deep messages; violence.
