Anna Smith metro.co.uk The funniest movie of the year so far. Rated: 4/5 Aug 23, 2018 Full Review Matt Singer IFC.com Juxtaposes the excesses of our unregulated financial sector with the excesses of the buddy cop movie. Rated: B+ Dec 21, 2010 Full Review Joshua Katzman Chicago Reader This is the fourth feature that Will Ferrell and writer-director Adam McKay have collaborated on, and once again they deliver laugh-out-loud if ultimately disposable comedy with mixed messages about arrested male development. Dec 20, 2010 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review At least McKay makes the film visually interesting, with one or two scenes of action that are worthy of mention, and some flair behind the camera during a frozen bar scene. Rated: 3/4 Aug 9, 2023 Full Review James Croot The Post NZ It's a strangely sobering end to a seriously funny film, but also a hint at what McKay would tackle later in the decade with the Oscar-winning The Big Short. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 20, 2023 Full Review Rene Jordan El Nuevo Herald (Miami) The movie isn't bad per se, but unfocused would be the corresponding adjective. Ed R Hilarious buddy cop movie that never stops making you laugh! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/10/25 Full Review Dylan P. Completely great all the way through. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/09/25 Full Review Matt S. Starts strong and completely falls apart. So many strained moments in the last 45 minutes. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/07/25 Full Review Riley S. Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg are an underrated comedic duo and this movie proves it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/29/25 Full Review River P The Other Guys is a very solid buddy cop action comedy. I love the movie. Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg worked decently together as partners. Their jobs are being detectives for the New York police department. Michael Keaton had a lot of fun in his role as the boss who purposely quotes TLC songs. And, the bit with Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne Johnson were entertaining. I like that one moment where they think they’re super heroes and they jump off the building with the foo fighters song my hero playing. Of course they are slowly descending and they crash to the street. That was very hilarious. I do have a couple nitpicks. I do think some of the lines were a bit unnecessary. And, there probably could’ve been a little bit more action in the second half of the movie. Other than those nitpicks, The Other Guys is such a good flick. Overall, I do quite like the film. One of my top favorite action comedies with a lot of good laughs and several action set pieces that are pretty solid. A fun and entertaining movie. Not perfect, but it’s a lot of fun. My favorite film with Will Ferrell and second favorite with Mark Wahlberg.
