Aimless, middle-aged bachelor Robert (André Dussollier) is jarred by the fact that his ex-lover Claire (Emmanuelle Devos) has just had a baby that, according to her, isn't his. Distraught and still smitten with his old flame, Robert runs into the quirky Aie (Hélène Fillières), a waitress who aspires to be an actress and model, and quickly strikes up a relationship with her. However, she's a little weirder than he originally thought -- in fact, she claims she's not even from this planet.
