Bobby LePire Film Threat A perfect way to kill an hour it is, and you'll have fun if you know what you are getting into. If so, Ouija Shark offers small charms, but that is better none at all. Rated: 6/10 Aug 4, 2020 Full Review Caitlin Kennedy Nightmarish Conjurings Ouija Shark is an awesome idea that suffers from basic flaws in the script. The charm of its rough edges is wasted when the film tries to take itself too seriously. Rated: 1/10 Jun 25, 2020 Full Review Jeffrey Lyles Lyles' Movie Files A goofy killer shark movie that lacks much bite, humor or entertainment, Ouija Shark is hardly a jagged little thrill. TheMovieSearch R Ouija Shark is one of those films that almost defies description in terms of quality. Going into it, I expected a low-budget, campy ride that might at least provide some ironic entertainment. What I found instead was a project so poorly constructed that it never even crosses into the “so-bad-it’s-good” territory—it remains firmly planted in “so-bad-it’s-unwatchable.” The premise, on paper, sounds like the kind of ridiculous fun that could work in the right hands: a group of characters stumble across an Ouija board, and in using it, accidentally summon a ghost shark that terrorizes them. Unfortunately, what could have been campy, self-aware entertainment is delivered with such clumsiness that the absurdity feels more frustrating than amusing. The pacing lurches from scene to scene with no sense of rhythm, and the dialogue is delivered with the conviction of a high school drama rehearsal. Visually, the film suffers even more. The special effects are nothing short of embarrassing, with the titular shark rendered in bargain-bin CGI that never once blends with the environment. Instead of being a threatening or even comical presence, the creature looks like it was pasted into the frame with little regard for scale, texture, or believability. Combined with generic outdoor settings that feel chosen at random, the movie lacks any sense of atmosphere or tension. The acting doesn’t do the film any favors either. Performances are wooden at best and unintentionally hilarious at worst, draining any chance of emotional investment. Not a single character feels developed or worth following, which makes the runtime feel even longer than it is. There’s a sense that the filmmakers hoped the sheer absurdity of a “ghost shark” would be enough to carry the movie, but without craftsmanship or intention behind it, the result falls completely flat. Ultimately, Ouija Shark represents the kind of misguided filmmaking where ambition and execution are miles apart. While it could have embraced its ridiculous premise with clever writing or tongue-in-cheek delivery, instead it plays out like an endurance test—one that offers no real payoff. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/03/25 Full Review Boston L I will say, this movie has good intentions but the editing and acting, plus green screen clipping, are the problem for why this movie isn't that good, livening it up with better camera quality, a better editing software, like adobe, and actors who know and feel the script for the movie. I did enjoy some of the weird and quite funny scenes, such as the one where the spirit guy fights off Ouija Shark. However, that's still an hour and ten minutes of horrible movie. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
