Jeff M Low key, beyond subtle, almost catatonic at times, buoyed by two legends. Redford excels better than Fonda. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/24 Full Review Carol L Sometimes the simple beauty of a loving relationship is enough to drive away the anxieties of reality. A credit to Jane Fonda, Robert Redford and all the production team. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/24 Full Review Aaron S A sweet movie about aging, family, and community. It's pretty "aw shucks" overall, but has a lot of heart and a lot of good gentle reminders of the reality of getting old and managing family, relationships, and your own desires. Jane Fonda and Robert Redford anchor the movie so strongly and their performances are very endearing. There's nothing truly great about Our Souls at Night and that's okay - there's more than enough space for wholesome dramas like this. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/02/23 Full Review Terry M BORING . Not serious Not funny Not entertaining Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/28/23 Full Review Julia R Really beautiful, sensitive film. So glad so see a slow, deep, real film coming out from America. It has a similar rhymth to Japanese films, able to portray something that isn't physical. A film where you come away with the negative space as much as the filming itself. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/23/23 Full Review Erin R This is a beautifully rendered story, extraordinarily well-acted. It builds slowly, offering a window into the wisdom of older people who benefit from new connection, easing both loneliness and the consequences of old scars. Anthony Lane New Yorker Much of this is too hokey by half, yet the two leading actors, their skills unfaded, command your attention to the end. Oct 9, 2017 Full Review Leonard Maltin leonardmaltin.com The screenplay unfolds in unhurried fashion, allowing us to spend quality time with two highly watchable movie stars. This is the allure of Our Souls at Night and anyone who thinks of that as a pleasurable experience will not be disappointed Oct 2, 2017 Full Review Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times These are good people, and these are great actors portraying these good people, and if you not rooting for Louis and Addie to find comfort and love and peace with one another in their last years, then I just don't know what to tell you. Rated: 3.5/4 Sep 30, 2017 Full Review Serena Seghedoni Loud and Clear Reviews sweet, courageous and unpredictable Rated: 3.5/5 Nov 4, 2023 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson From beginning to end, "Our Souls at Night" flows like a gentle mountain stream of contemplative conversations, crafted from well-designed scenes Rated: 4/5 Apr 14, 2021 Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse A low-key movie about two people leading quiet lives.
