When a spacecraft crashes in Norway during the Iron Age, two figures emerge from the wreckage: Kainan (James Caviezel), an alien soldier, and the Moorwen, his mortal enemy. The latter immediately starts cutting a path of destruction through the Norse lands, while Kainan sees a chance to meld his advanced technology with ancient Viking weaponry to destroy the Moorwen before it destroys Earth.

A film version of fish and chips - humble, honest fare that's ludicrous, inventive, gory within limits, and has a cast having so much fun it's hard not to be swept along with them. And besides, you can't have nouvelle cuisine every night of the week.

What seems to be a ridiculous premise...a spaceman with a monster aboard his ship crashes in iron age Norway and aligns himself with the local Vikings to kill the beast...is actually a very enjoyable film. Loved Caviezel, Myles and Huston, and especially John Hurt as the Viking king.

As several others have stated. This film is seriously... underrated. The pacing is excellent and the way it combines mythology , fantasy and science fiction together it what makes it stand out. This is what a movie should be suspend disbelief and enjoy.

A movie that always make me come back to it. I liked when was relased and i still like aprox 20 years later. Bloody, violent with vikings and aliens, what more can you ask. Is not a oscar masterpice but fun to watch when you want to be entertained. I dont get the all negativity arround it, maybe James Caviezel is not for everyone these days.
