Blmelein The first 20 min. of the movie made a good impresion, but after that so many random things started to happen and they never got explained or had a reason to be there. It was just boring to watch a fight scene that changed the setting every minuite. I need to say that the ending wasn't good either, but it made me tear up a bit because the voice acting (I watched the german dub) was above the average anime dub. In conclusion I can say that it isn't worth your time and money unless you are a big fan of romantic storys with some plotholes. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/28/23 Full Review Dennis J This movie, in my opinion, is clearly inspired by Shinkai movies, with a touch of Ghibli and Disney. Sounds like a winning formula, right? I really wanted this film to succeed, like a new star in the sky that promises future masterpieces. What was lacking? There were many beautiful visuals and animations, the character designs were decent, and some dream sequences were quite cool. However, there are scenes with weak animation, and some are basically a slideshow with voiceovers, which really breaks immersion. Unfortunately, the female protagonist also had... not a good voice actress. She's fine in calm scenes, but when it comes to drama, she overdoes it, and her overly dramatic screams are jarring and don't even sync with the lip movements. Then there's the Disney element. A central issue is that fears and mental problems are resolved through a musical piece. It's not a bad idea, but it doesn't have the impact it should. At times, the anime drew me in, but then the next misstep would come along. Tears welled up for me only in the preview of another film, not in this one. It's a shame, really. If it were only half as good as "A Silent Voice," I could have loved it. But as it stands... 6/10. Visually pleasing but forgettable.
