      Oz the Great and Powerful

      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

It suffers from some tonal inconsistency and a deflated sense of wonder, but Oz the Great and Powerful still packs enough visual dazzle and clever wit to be entertaining in its own right.

isa e Lots of continuity errors particularly with Mila Kunis in beginning, one scene lipstick is perfect, next cut, none, pretty pedestrian affair Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/09/24 Full Review binh q how was this not considered a masterpiece? An elegant and brilliantly written and casted prequel-sequel. It captures the spirit of the original and tells an immaculate origin story superior to all the corny superhero stories told by other Disney features. The various supporting characters are filled with personality and Franco is at his best. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/03/24 Full Review Mu S Além de ser um remake desnecessário, tem uma trama pretensiosa e não traz a essência do original (nenhum filme irá conseguir isso). Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/15/23 Full Review Albino V This was a great movie with a fresh view on a old time classic! I wish there was a sequel! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/24/23 Full Review MoviesSeries R It is a good movie to watch, had fun watching it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/04/23 Full Review Michael W This Wizard of Oz prequel was pretty good. James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams, Zach Braff, Joey King, and the rest of the cast did a pretty good job in this movie. The plot of the movie was kind of entertaining but peculiar. It's about what the Wizard of Oz was really like and how he saved Oz from the evil witches. If you haven't seen this movie yet, you might like it. That's my opinion. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/03/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Jenny Catchings Bitch Media Make no mistake, Oz the Great & Powerful a beautiful film... But any true weight of vacancy rests in the script itself - and no feats of acting could have fundamentally changed this trap. Jan 14, 2021 Full Review Larushka Ivan-Zadeh metro.co.uk With flying monkeys, Yellow Brick Road and sequin-spangled witches all faithfully reproduced, it's impossible to see this as a standalone film, given it looks like an HD colouring book version of the original movie. Rated: 3/5 Sep 5, 2017 Full Review Wesley Morris Grantland The twister that comes to whirl Oscar into Oz is so preordained you could find its departure information and flight time from an airport travel board. Jan 3, 2014 Full Review B.L. Panther Paste Magazine Today, Oz the Great and Powerful boasts collective and equal distaste among audiences and critics alike, which suggests that there’s something to be resisted within the film. Rated: D+ Oct 2, 2023 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review The result isn’t bad and incites the intermittent chuckle, but it ultimately fails to fill The Wizard of Oz’s shoes.
