Vitoria F The drawing of this animation is beautiful, it's a shame that the story is so sad. As for the narrative style, I liked the use of symbolism, but I found it difficult to understand some details. The general story made it easy to understand. Beautiful short film. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/07/24 Full Review Devon R A brilliant film. A story told entirely in subtext. Objectively a more creative film and it's hard for me to imagine that anyone would argue even subjectively that it was less impactful than "War is Over". Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/11/24 Full Review Dallas H I love the animation style despite the sad story it tells. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/09/24 Full Review matthias s "Pachyderme" offers a mesmerizing journey into a surreal yet hauntingly beautiful world. With great worldbuilding and intricate details, the film immerses viewers into Louise's summer at her grandparents' countryside, where the unexpected snowfall brings forth a chilling revelation. The animation, crafted with meticulous 2D hand paintings, is visually stunning, complemented by eerie sound effects and a hauntingly beautiful musical score that enhances the film's atmospheric depth. Beneath its whimsical facade lies a powerful metaphor for child abuse, executed with impressive subtlety and impact. The hidden layers of storytelling are poignant and heartbreaking, offering a profound insight into the harrowing reality faced by many children. While the film's brevity leaves one yearning for more, its concise narrative packs a powerful punch, leaving a lasting impression. Nominated for an Oscar, "Pachyderme" deserves recognition for its impressive storytelling and masterful depiction of a sensitive subject matter. It's a gripping exploration of abuse through the eyes of a child, and a worthy contender for the coveted title of Best Animated Short. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/08/24 Full Review Read all reviews
