Audience Member A movie that centers on Filipino funeral wake superstition, "Pagpag" in which when a visitor to a wake funeral goes home, he or she has to go somewhere or someplace before returning home or else the dead's soul will haunt the supertition offender. The film has a strong story material and premise in which a group of teens is involve in the superstition offense turned horror nightmare for them when they didn't believe in it. But essential loopholes in the story of the movie tarnish the whole beauty of the movie. Yes, it has enough suspense and scares to make you thrill and gasps in every scene but it also doesn't help when the movie is obviously capitalizing so much on the Daniel Padilla-Kathryn Bernardo on-screen romance which is annoying and obviously catered only just to get more movie watchers from their fans. Taking much of their romance scene/moment in the film, will give the movie a better execution of its premise and story. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member ...a supernatural slasher flick made with calculated atmosphere and terror to a mildly effective result. It managed to value both its plot and characters. The execution actually surpassed my expectations. However, it ended stumbling down into generic territory as it develops manipulative drama and voyeuristic violence. It might have the ingenuity and sheer craft but it lacks soul and originality.
