It's so audacious and so technically accomplished, and arrives here garlanded with so many radiant superlatives, that I wish I liked it more. Go to Full Review

The story is a compelling and deeply involving one, and the film is both beautiful, exciting, and sometimes horrifying. The creature effects are superbly handled. Go to Full Review

Cesar Sep 22 Great movie ! If you enjoy fantasy with some slight horror that makes you feel angry, sad and happiness This movie is for you. 😉 See more Teresa H Sep 18 Compelling story, good sound track and effective interweaving of real and imaginary worlds and characters. Story and visuals both very dark - the dark picture was welcome during several episodes of violence. The adults don't have much backstory, but since we are seeing most of this through the eyes of a child, that is appropriate. It was interesting that, although I don't really speak Spanish, by the end scenes I had stopped noticing the subtitles and was hearing the English in my mind as though it was spoken. Can't remember that ever happening before. See more Joseph D Sep 18 Absolute EPIC in every way. An adult fairytale that sweeps you away into another realm. Just an amazing film. So happy to see this again on the BIG screen!! See more Miguel Marquez 12/14/2024 I love this movie since the first time I watched it. It has a special place in my memory and in my heart. I’d always heard 'Pan’s Labyrinth' was a masterpiece, but while it’s a good film, it wasn’t what I expected. The imbalance between what it promises and what it delivers defines the experience. Sergi López is outstanding, carrying the film with a terrifyingly real depiction of Francoist Spain. That strength, however, pushes the fantasy into the background. I expected a dark-fantasy story supported by a war setting, but Del Toro does the opposite: the fantasy appears only in symbolic glimpses tied to the protagonist’s psychology, never fully exploring the inhuman world it hints at. The Pale Man is iconic, yet the overall fantasy feels shallow and underdeveloped. I finished the movie wondering: Where is the labyrinth? See more Read all reviews
