Dennis Harvey Variety The pacing is just brisk enough to lend a cheesy concept sufficient "Are they really going there? Oh yes, they are!" watchability, with dashes of inappropriate sexuality and weird marital dynamics adding additional flavor. Feb 11, 2021 Full Review Barbara Shulgasser Common Sense Media Squatter with grudge menaces; cursing, violence, sex. Rated: 2/5 Mar 3, 2021 Full Review Paul Mount Starburst We've been here before, of course, in umpteen straight-to DVD/streaming movies and even though we can predict the story beats long before they actually arrive, Paradise Cove still manages to be mundanely engaging. Rated: 3/5 Feb 26, 2021 Full Review Peter Gray This is Film Paradise Cove may be more a destination you laugh at than with, but its unintentional value as farcical viewing is enough to request an overnight stay. Feb 15, 2021 Full Review Tyler Doupe Dread Central Paradise Cove isn't going to win any awards for originality but Kristin Bauer van Straten's performance makes the feature more enjoyable. GM M Woeful, laughable and ultimately forgettable. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/11/23 Full Review Peter W Overall, what begins with a promising premise quickly gets cheesy and uninteresting. Watching a happy couple renovating with an unwanted, homeless person living underneath the home felt like it could be fun and thrilling. Unfortunately, not a lot worked for me here as a viewer.  This was a painful experience as the leads themselves are unlikeable, and seriously, how hard can it be to kick an unwelcomed guest from a house?  It's crammed with side plots and predictable moments, and the quality of the plot and performances feel like a low-quality TV movie. If you're in the mood for a film that is cheesy, sleazy and somewhat trashy, then a trip to Paradise Cove might be worth a view. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/29/23 Full Review brad p Paradise Cove isn't going to win any awards for originality but Kristin Bauer van Straten's performance makes the feature more enjoyable. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member In this psychological thriller , we see the new home owners come face to face with Bree (brilliantly played by True Blood's Kristen Bauer Van Straten) who has decided that their home is her home and she isn't going anywhere. This Martin Guigui directed thriller keeps you on the edge of your seat and will have you talking and shouting at your screen (I love films that make you do that) as you see the pressure cooker plot turn itself up to boiling point. Whilst the plot isnt the same, Paradise Cove jots love letters to classic thrillers such as Pacific Heights, Single White Female and Fatal Attraction and with its 100% grounded in reality storyline (brilliantly written by Sherry Klein), this type of the film is the most terrifying of all the film genres I watch. What do you do when someone legally puts themselves somewhere you don't want them to do and says ‘No' when you ask them to leave. With a perfect cast, stunning locations, and a brilliant cinematic use of more of less a single location. Martin and his crew have crafted a thriller that not only will I be recommending for several years, but is also a great example of how to make a film using a small amount of characters in a small amount of locations, and keeping 100% engaged for its running time. Paradise Cove is a film that all thriller fans will adore. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review skylar d A homeless woman under the house is the ultimate Malibu-riche boogeyman! All your favorite 90's campy scares with a great twist ending! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
