Parallel follows the story of Vanessa (Danielle Deadwyler) who takes refuge at her family's lake house to grieve after suffering the loss of her child. Accompanied by her husband, Alex (Aldis Hodge), and his brother, Martel (Edwin Hodge), Vanessa attempts to regain her sense of normalcy after the tragedy. But soon after their arrival, she experiences an aberration when she is attacked by a parallel universe's version of herself. Faced with the reality that multiverses exist, she must reconcile the fact that these parallel gates will either hold the key to releasing her grief or trapping her forever.

Since the start I disliked the main character. The dialogue and the plot are very poorly written and get tiresome. Bad acting. Beautiful photography. I was not able of finish watching it. I felt I was wasting my time.

If you enjoy sci fi movies that focus more on concepts and stories over explosions, you'll love this. I would compare it most to Coherence, however I found the motivations for these characters was more relatable, This movie definitely deserves more eyes.

Interesting concept, the writing and directing felt off with no rhythm, 20 minutes in and you finally get a glimmer of hope with a cool scene but you still aren't emotionally intrigued or connected with any of the characters. The preview/trailer looked great but the execution of the film lacked.

I loved it! Well placed intelligent and thought provoking. A minimalist movie that provided a maximum punch. The plot is easy to follow as multiverse space plains is presented early on. Then from there on the "3- card monty" game of trying to keep up and figure out which version of the character: Alex, Vanessa or Martel they are begins. The acting is superb., as you watch only three people hold down what plays like a big budget major motion picture.

I am really tired of multiverse movies. The amazing Significant Other movie was a similar vibe but far more original story. Notwithstanding, this was a solid sci-fi effort, the family component was touching and it's worth a watch.

SPOILERS: Couple lost their ~4 year old son (although it depends in which multiverse you are in). Lady jumps all over time, but going through this 'repeater' point in the woods. Even tries to kill herself. Look alike hubby found in woods too. But she wants HER hubby. ENDING: Lookalike hubby goes into his arch, lays TNT over it to blow this gate, giving her 45 minutes to find a gate, and go live there. She finds a gate where everything seems back to usual - and of course, her son is ALIVE??? Wonder what else that may change? Butterfly effect - right!
