Audience Member Nobody Likes This Film Which Is Very Understandable But For Some Reason I Just Didn't Hate It As Much As Other People Did, I Found The CGI To Be Quite Good For A Very Low Budget Film And Found It To Be Slightly Entertaining. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member In Andrew Pendergast's Parasite, a group of masked activists break into an Oil Company's head office to retrieve lots of files and documents to use against the devious CEO, who uses the incident to test out some chemicals at an abandoned oil rig, led by former activist Dr. Christine Hansen (Saskia Gould). Before she gets there, a group of engineers head to the rig to do some prepping and cleaning, unleashing the chemicals and creating parasitic worms that begin to grow at an exponential rate until they are of appropriate size to begin craving human flesh. To make matters worse, said extreme activists also land on the rig to initiate a peaceful protest/kidnapping. Now, the entire group must ban together against the masses of worm monsters that are crawling all throughout the rig in this low-budget horror actioner. Much to my surprise, Parasite is actually a pretty fun and engaging flick, though poorly titled. The actors manage to be somewhat convincing in their roles, but let's not forget that this film is fairly low-budget (Sci-fi channel low budget) and figures some atrociously bad CGI monsters and effects. Still, if you can get past the effects, you might just find yourself being entertained on a boring, rainy day by this small film. Kudos to director Pendergast (who would go on to make another big monster sci-fi cornball called Hydra) for the engaging film. Not bad. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member The low budget is quite evident, the acting ranges from poor to decent. Certainly not a great film, but it does have a few good scares and the atmosphere is good. The score is effective, but the special effects are fair at best. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Aren't parasites supposed to feed off of something? These creatures just come out of nowhere, which is apparently where the plot went to. To describe this movie it would be this. People go to work at a drill, ecoterrorist take over, giant gummy worms with teeth attack them. The characters are laughable, but they can't keep you from passing out from boredom and randomness of the scenes. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

David Nusair Reel Film Reviews It's obvious that the filmmakers just didn't have enough money to do this sort of movie properly - so the question is, why'd they even bother? Rated: 1/4 Jul 21, 2005 Full Review Read all reviews
