When Charlotte (Katherine Waterson) runs away from her controlling husband and isolating life as a rancher, she returns to the apartment of her mother, Kit (Fiona Shaw), in an affluent building on the famed, titular street. There, Charlotte rekindles her teenage love, as well as her volatile relationship with the acerbic Kit, who has yet to tell her daughter that she is dying. Set against the beautiful backdrop of elegant New York, Park Avenue is a witty yet tense drama about the turbulence of mother-daughter relationships, and the reasons we keep secrets from our loved ones.
