This abrasive absurdist look into woman's liberation by Alexander Kluge is pretty much as good as I was hoping it would be. Alexandra is a young mother and wife who works as an abortionist in her spare time, to put food on the table. She is trapped in her domesticated household, but is what one would describe as a "busy body" type. Her husband is a student, so its her responsibility. Her husband is rather oppressive, as she yearns for more things to do in her life. The film almost feels like a documentary at times, with the narration and quotations throughout. Its kinda hard to explain this film but Its really fantastic in its execution. Kluge's camera really observes the soul of Alexandra, and its just a fascinating character study. I still think I slightly prefer Yesterday Girl, but this is another gem from Alexander Kluge. He really deserves to be more recognized and praised film circles. The abortion sequence is fucking amazing...
