Philippa Hawker The Age (Australia) Particle Fever shows how the theorists and experimenters need and respect each other, in the course of setbacks, disappointments, premature celebrations and public relations glitches. Rated: 4/5 Dec 3, 2014 Full Review Tirdad Derakhshani Philadelphia Inquirer Particle Fever explores with awe-inspiring precision, and in remarkably accessible language, how 10,000 scientists and engineers from around the world built what in effect is the ultimate test tube for particle physics. Rated: 4/4 Mar 21, 2014 Full Review Peter Keough Boston Globe The enthusiasm, idealism, and cheerful brilliance of the six subjects convey the thrill, if not the full significance, of this scientific breakthrough. Rated: 3/4 Mar 20, 2014 Full Review Stephen A. Russell The New Daily (Australia) Levinson studied particle physics at Berkley, but despite clearly possessing a gargantuan brain, this fabulous whistle-stop tour of the Hadron Collider and the clever and surprisingly cool boffins ... never makes you feel out of your depth Rated: 4.5/5 Aug 26, 2020 Full Review Steve Erickson Nashville Scene The movie could have been as dry as a NOVA episode, and indeed its weakest moments carry an arid whiff of PBS infotainment. For the most part, though, Particle Fever both captures and evokes the human tension behind the experiment. Dec 14, 2018 Full Review Paul Parcellin Film Threat Considering the complexities of the subject matter, the film holds together surprisingly well. It's catnip for physics geeks, of course, but others with even a mild curiosity about the physical world can appreciate it. Rated: 8/10 Apr 16, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Skepticism aside, it is a morbidly fascinating real life subject. The climax of the film was probably when the LHC had to shutdown for two months because it sprung a leak. A 100 minute movie about colliding invisible object A with invisible object B to create invisible object C and a bunch of data. I think the skepticism is justified. Didn't say much that hasn't already been publicly said over the years or that made much sense. It's good that information on CERN and the LHC exists in this form but it did little to answer my inquisitive perception of it. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Was hoping to learn a bit more about what they were studying with this documentary, instead the movie is just about them talking about themselves. Very boring. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Brilliant story with brilliant people. Moreover, Robert Miller does a brilliant job scoring this film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Chris L This deals with a lot of grand, complicated ideas in a loving way. Even if the concepts being discussed go over the viewers' heads, the excitement of the characters is enough to make this an enjoyable experience. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/18 Full Review Audience Member Pretty good with footage inside the machine. One explosion. Danger on life with helium. Women physicists! Cutes! Touching hero particle. Nice graphics. It lacks mathematics and a real explanation of the standard model but otherwise, we could sympatise. They should have had a full explanation in DVD extras at least. Jeez, the guys were right there. Full disclosure: I have a physics B.Sc. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Intriguing and captivating documentary. Even if you don't know anything about science you will find it great. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Read all reviews
