Steven S. @sPdMoN 19h Thought it was great, a fun ride thru space and fantasy See more Jon D @RT54138985 1d This movie is ok for teens - lots of motion and bright colors. lost interest about half way through - had to abort. See more Fancy D @Fancylot 1d The right amount of action, fun, complicated over the top plot! Dylan W. and Victoria S. were perfect. If you like movies like Inception, Enders game or ready player one you should enjoy this movie. See more JJ L @JoJoLo26 1d The main character’s histrionic performance is rather annoying and makes it hard to keep my interest in the movie. Makes him look like the female is the only adult on the ship! Great setup nevertheless. Teenage entertainment See more Par H @Parhwy 2d Per Aspera Ad Astra (2026) is a 111-minute-long Chinese sci-fi I saw on Netflix in June 2026. I watched this with little-to-no knowledge of it except the title and watching a snippet of its trailer. The title intrigued me because it reminded me of my grandfather: he fought in World War II in Beaufighter Squadron 90, whose motto is Per Ardua Ad Astra. This film surprised me. I went from "this is a sci-fi" to "is this a comedy?" to "is this a thriller?" to "oh I get it" and back again. The CGI, choreography, cinematography, editing, are dynamic, thrilling in the action scenes. My only criticism is that the run time is a tad long by perhaps 10 minutes and that parts were more derivative than homage/parody. I am glad I watched this film and I am glad I had almost no idea what was coming because it was a colourful, fun, funny, interesting, pretty rollercoaster. It’s definitely punching above its weight. Rewatch? Maybe? Recommend? Yes. 7/10. See more Marco L @decatur555 2d Per Aspera Ad Astra is a very entertaining Chinese space adventure with humor, good visual effects and a refreshing sense of imagination. It mixes spaceships, AI, virtual dream worlds and action in a way that can feel chaotic at times, but also lively and different from the usual American science-fiction formula. The film does not revolutionize the genre, and some ideas are familiar, but it has personality, color, rhythm and the right running time. It knows how to be spectacular without becoming exhausting, and its playful tone makes it easy to enjoy. What I liked most, beyond the adventure itself, is the beautiful Latin title: Per Aspera Ad Astra, "through hardships, to the stars." It gives the film a sense of cosmic ambition that suits it very well. See more Read all reviews
