Linda Barnard Toronto Star The animation shines amid a rather workmanlike doc. But perhaps that is the Schreck's intent, to make the animation the undisputed centre of the film. Rated: 3/4 Jan 9, 2014 Full Review Jeff Shannon Seattle Times Sometimes it feels like you're rattling around in the fever-dreaming brain of the animator. It's glorious. Rated: 3.5/4 Aug 15, 2013 Full Review Cory Woodroof 615 Film I swear I’ll never be able to look at Aladdin the same way again. The shade this documentary throws here is damning. Jun 2, 2022 Full Review Dan Schindel Movie Mezzanine It's only a must if you're a die-hard fan of animation or cinema history. It still feels like there's a better version of this story waiting to be told. Rated: C Apr 8, 2014 Full Review Jamie S. Rich Oregonian After watching "Persistence of Vision," stream the version of "The Thief and the Cobbler" available on Netflix. It will break your heart. Rated: 4/5 Dec 10, 2013 Full Review Matthew Razak Flixist.com Schreck has crafted a moving tribute to Richard Williams's artistic ambition, and at the same time celebrates the melancholy beauty of impossible dreams. Audience Member It had been entirely too long since I'd seen Richard Williams animation on a big screen. Since Roger Rabbit, in fact, and before that you've got to go back to the Raggedy Ann & Andy movie. That alone would've made me give this five stars, because not five *minutes* in, and possibly not even five seconds, my mouth had fallen open in awe. That it is also a heartbreaking, genuinely tragic tale of failure, not to launch but to *land*, is the bitter with the sweet. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
