D P 1d Went nowhere. Kristen has this speech pattern with so many starts and stops. I suppose that is what she calls acting. Luckily, the director for the Diana movie was able to get her to put a handle on that quirk. I do think that her inability to produce any amount of charisma can really hurt a film. She insists on playing lead, so I think she would be better used by transitioning to writing and directing. See more Simon T @Bucksplit 4d For the first twenty minutes you'll be hard-pressed to work out what is going on. Assayas seems to be determined to cloak his actually quite conventional ghost story in pretentious coded dialogue and random fade outs. It's often inaudible (Kristen Stewart is the prime culprit) or poorly acted. Round and round it goes, neither murder mystery, nor examination of grief. The low point is the decision to use CGI to portray the ghost. On the positive side, it's well photographed. See more Benjamin H Jan 8 Wholly original and featuring a marvellous performance by Kristen Stewart, Personal Shopper is one weirdo with many tonal shifts that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't work and while i did find some of its thematic explorations solidly handled, it did sometimes drag and i wasn't invested in the story all the way through. See more Jonathan H Nov 28 Disjointed and poorly played out story lines. Just awful…. See more Tanya V @TuneVK Nov 26 This movie was awkward. Not avant garde, not moody, not mysterious, not thought provoking, not scary... just awkward. Imagine Kristen Stewart, as you know her - fidgety and quiet and probably pretty shallow although trying to project deep thought - in movie format. Jumping through three short stories and trying to tie a string between them unsuccessfully. That's Personal Shopper. The acting feels totally predictable, with random moments of improv, oddly. The story doesn't feel anything, at any point. I don't feel anything about her relationship with her brother. I don't care that she's been attacked by random ghosts at the beginning because then she has a very awkward conversation with her dead brother's ex, and the ghosts don't come up again. I don't believe for a second that this nervous/odd girl is shopping at Cartier for her high profile clients. Etcetera. I get why KS would want to make this film, but I don't understand why anyone would want to watch it. See more Nye N. @nye2025 Nov 15 I am not a fan of Kristen Stewart. Putting that aside, though, the movie is decent, but also very forgettable… See more Read all reviews
