Müller G I saw this film as a teenager in a small movie theater, probably in 1987. I loved the atmosphere of the movie, it really touched me. It makes a very good attempt to show how people felt near the end of the socialist regime in Hungary. It is really slowly paced, not much happening, which helps to convey a sort of apathy that was common. The sound track and the black and white photography also help to create a gloomy mood. Even as young kids we were talking about leaving the country. This was a typical conversation topic at the end of house parties in the kitchen.
