The Petrovs are an average family living in the peaceful city of Yekaterinburg in post-Soviet Russia. They follow their daily regimens with quiet consistency, but beneath this layer of the ordinary, things turn out to be quite extraordinary. Petrov lives his life in a parallel comic universe, breaking out of the mundane to do everything from abducting children as a humanoid alien, to lining up Russian aristocrats against a wall and shooting them down. Petrov has been dealing with the flu, but goes about his regular life, often getting drunk and spending the night out. His wife, Petrova, is a librarian by day and a superhero vigilante with a maniacal streak by night; she kills abusive men.

Robert Abele Los Angeles Times A commandingly propulsive post-Soviet delirium about a divorced comics artist coughing and hallucinating his way across a grim, chilly night/day of detours, confrontations, memories and fatherly responsibilities. Oct 6, 2022 Full Review Glenn Kenny RogerEbert.com All of it [is] staged and shot with conscientiousness and ingenuity rarely seen in films from any country anymore. It is indeed a phantasmagoria, and perhaps an overload. Sep 22, 2022 Full Review William Stottor Loud and Clear Reviews Dystopian sci-fi Petrov’s Flu is an intriguing but cluttered mixture of thoughts and musings on Russian society, which makes for a fresh but sometimes frustrating watch. Vin E Hard to sit through. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review carsten s Like a Beatnik film: Fast like Kerouac´s On The Road, bitter, hilarious and reality bending like Burroughs´ Naked Lunch. Grand spectaculum. Crazy, funny, sad, without hope for humans and the russian system, but with hope for humanity in personal relations. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
