In the late 90's, Sagrario, Paz, Gloria, and Father Girón, form an investigation team specialized in paranormal phenomena: the Hepta group. Although the group is not going through its best moment, they agree to investigate an antique shop where strange things are happening. But what seemed like a case like any other, will become the most difficult of their lives. And only together they will be able to solve it.

It may not be as fondly remembered as some other modern Spanish films on Netflix, but Phenomena does the job of entertaining the viewer. With horror elements and a light-hearting tone that turns darker the further the film progresses.

I enjoyed this more than I was expecting even though it is very uneven because of the tonal shifts. There are three great sequences with some mildly entertaining filler. The balance of comedy and horror or thriller is excellent along with the acting and casting. The film has a high production quality throughout. The story and characters are engaging even in the filler sections. It feels like an original film. Some investment in characters leads to nothing and it feels like it's desperately trying to justify a sequel or be accurate to a book which doesn't work well. Overall fairly enjoyable and certainly held my attention through the excellent set pieces.

These 3 ladies are a rag tag team of paranormal investigators that are called to an antique store that's experiencing strange things. The hokey moments are supposed to be funny - but it had actual potential. And these ladies can smoke!

The first part is very good, the second is decent and the third is too mediocre. The leading trio is not bad at all and some secondary ones are fine. The final villain did not fully convince me and the movie in general is not very original. Overall have a good time.
