Charlie Dunlap (Josh Charles) has been obsessed with traffic patterns since he was a boy and reveres traffic reporter Alan Davenport (John Goodman). After moving to Los Angeles to find a job reporting on the freeways, Charlie sees his career stall. However, he runs into childhood friend and teenage love Amy (Anne Heche), now a waitress and dancer in an avant-garde company. Charlie becomes determined both to work for Davenport and to win back Amy, even though she is not interested at first.

Audience Member Only two things are important to Charlie - traffic and Amy (Anne Heche). Somehow these two things are at loggerheads with each other, and Charlie keeps losing Amy. All in all, the story is not that entertaining.
