When the coach of a French soccer team is killed, his ring featuring the legendary Pink Panther diamond goes missing. Luckily, Chief Inspector Dreyfus (Kevin Kline) has a plan: assign his most intelligent, most driven officers to track down the thieves in secret, while publicly assigning the bumbling Inspector Jacques Clouseau (Steve Martin) as head of the case. Clouseau seems hopeless, until his various mistakes and misjudgments miraculously put him on the real killer's trail.

If you don't think this is funny, well, I'll quote Joker and ask "why so SERIOUS?!" 😜 Lighten up and don't expect a work of art, this is fast paced (albeit with a lot of clumsy tripping), sometimes silly, lots of action, sometimes clueless, hilarious, unique and enough turns. Very entertaining

Now, my opinion may be biased as a lover of slap-stick humor, but this is one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. I saw the original 1963 film and found it lackluster, boring, banal, extremely unfunny, and with an enormously unsatisfactory ending. Steve Martin was much more amusing than Peter Sellers and absolutely perfect for the role. This movie may not be amazing in terms of technical perfection, (what most of these critics seem to be judging it on), but it's a fun movie to watch and laugh at on a Saturday night (especially with our world as it is these days) and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
