POTC: AWE provides the thrilling action scenes, but mixes in too many characters with too many incomprehensible plot threads.

Namrata Joshi Outlook What began as a thrilling and engrossing entertainer ends up as a terribly tedious franchisee -- the convoluted plot leaves you more confused than involved. Rated: 2/4 Jan 25, 2019 Full Review Steve Rose Guardian Buoyed by luck, comedy and state-of-the-art special effects, it has not only survived the journey intact, it's also washed down its decks, ready for a whole new cycle of movies to begin. Rated: 3/5 Jun 30, 2007 Full Review Marc Savlov Austin Chronicle It's a knockabout, scattershot affair. Rated: 2/5 Jun 30, 2007 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins An epic finale, this overlong, overstuffed film manages to neatly resolve all the loose ends from the previous entry, even if it takes considerable time to do so. Rated: 5/10 Nov 27, 2020 Full Review Joanne Laurier World Socialist Web Site Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End is marginally more coherent than last year's sequel-a very small mercy. It is, however, just as bloated, requiring a level of familiarity with both its predecessors. Sep 2, 2020 Full Review Micheal Compton Bowling Green Daily News At World's End is nearly three hours long, so it does feel a little padded, but for the most part the film moves at a reasonable pace - even if it almost stumbles to the finish while trying to tie up all the loose ends. Griffith J Absolutely epic in scope & scale, closing out this trilogy in blockbuster fashion. A visual feast with truly amazing CGI, special effects, & set design. A lot of awesome pirate & nautical mythology that brings unique, diverse elements. Yet the writing is overstuffed with plot points, too convenient for the characters, & recycles the shifting motives/backstabbing too often. Leaning into the quirky humor far too much undercuts moments that should be massive. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/05/25 Full Review Hayden W Half a star less than what I'd give the first two installments, but I'd be lying if I said it still wasn't extremely close to being all 5. The film picks up where we left in Dead Man's Chest perfectly and is hilarious in all of the confusion it slaps you with. If you can deal with Jack going insane for half of the movie and are able to process the plotholes established in the last movie, you will genuinely have a blast watching this. Of course, I would argue the confusion is a bit strange to me with all of the new plot information and whatnot and can totally understand why anyone would find that difficult to process, but it is still an unbelievably underrated film that definitely deserves to be one of the top 10 most costly films made. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/01/25 Full Review JACOB B. pirates of the Caribbean 3 at world's end is a really good movie following Captain Jack sparrow who is trying to find a way to defeat the flying Dutchman who has been after Captain Jack sparrow after pirates of the Caribbean 2 dead man's chest where they're looking for the heart of the Flying Dutchman Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/30/25 Full Review Johannes S Again it is too long, the result of too much filler dialogue and useless comedy scenes. But "At world's end" has the best cinematography, soundtrack, and action scenes out of the original trilogy. Also the endings for each character are well-written! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/25/25 Full Review some T. Malstrom!!! Need I say more Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/19/25 Full Review Leo M "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" might be convoluted and difficult to comprehend on a first watch, however its brilliant final battle and fulfilment of Will Turner's destiny results in a satisfactory conclusion to Gore Verbinski's trilogy.
