A cappella isn't something everyone wants to do, as Beca constantly reminds us, but for this kid, it's all she's ever wanted to do. And when Pitch Perfect 2 is at its best, it makes you feel, for just a second, like you want to, too.

Good, doesn't miss a step from the original. Love the new cast and the plot is silly, but fun. The commentators don't age well, but not a big deal, they are intended to offend anyway.

Pitch Perfect 2 is a loud, confident, and genuinely fun sequel that fully embraces its musical-comedy roots. Rather than reinventing the formula, the film doubles down on high-energy performances, sharp humor, and over-the-top moments that make it an easy crowd-pleaser. The addition of Hailee Steinfeld brings fresh energy and a new perspective that blends well with the returning cast. The music is creative and entertaining, with strong mashups and a memorable original song that helps the sequel stand on its own. Rebel Wilson delivers some of her funniest moments here, landing jokes that genuinely work, while Elizabeth Banks continues to shine with her quick wit and confidence. Written by Kay Cannon, the screenplay keeps things light, fast, and playful without dragging. While it doesn’t hit the emotional depth of the first film, Pitch Perfect 2 succeeds by knowing exactly what it is: a fun, unapologetic musical sequel that matches the original’s entertainment value and delivers

The return of the Bellas is a well warranted sequel. The soundtrack expands on its sonic tapestry and with more groups being introduced it creates an awesome atmosphere. My only gripe, and the only reason this movie cannot get its 5th star is Hollywood’s insistence on casting Rebel Wilson in a role where she is supposed to sing or be funny and can do neither. The rest of the cast nails their parts as Rebel continues to stand out like an unsightly sore thumb. Once you move past that, the movie is fun and fantastic.
