While some of the genuine articles sporadically earned chuckles with vulgar sight gags and gratuitous nudity, "Pitching Tents" is too timorous to risk being truly offensive. Go to Full Review

[Jim Norton] manages to elevate the script and role he was given and bring comedic life to his character. Unfortunately, the good doesn't help the story's blandness. Go to Full Review

11/06/2020 Average watch, might watch again, and can't recommend. This really should have been a great coming of age story similar to "American Pie", but it's mostly empty. While there is great character connection amongst the cast, and the story is actually a great concept of a guy torn between worlds, but I honestly don't feel like it has a point other than proposing philosophical quandry. Yes, there is some humor and decent production value, as well as plenty of multi-threading, however, I just didn't enjoy the movie much. Hopefully someone else does enjoy this. See more 02/07/2019 I have always felt that with some good writing and a fun attitude you can make a somewhat funny comedy no matter what the budget. Funny things happen in life all the time for free, so why shouldn't it translate into lower budget comedies? That's the big question on my mind as I trudge through Pitching Tents, a coming of age comedy I have watched for From The Depths. So, the big question, is it funny? Well, not really. Pitching Tents has a distinct lack of comedy that lands, Which may be because it really feels as generic as they come. In my full review on www.dasbobsworlds.com <---cheap plug, I mention that the movie feels like a lot of side plots in other better movies got together and form one average film. The main character is just mopey and can't make a decision to save his life, the Goddess Camp that they mention trying to find isn't even really a plot point anymore a few minutes in, and the movie is just about average people doing average stuff at the end of summer before college. I mean if you have seen Superbad, American Pie, and even The Package on Netflix, you have seen more interesting films with the same ideas behind them. It might sound like I really dislike this film, which is somewhat true. I do know there will be people who enjoy it more. But I just don't think it is worth your time. Comedy that doesn't land mixed with generic everything doesn't make for a fun time. See more 01/11/2018 Worth a look, decent music choices See more 06/12/2017 This movie killed! Seriously, the scene with the guys getting beer with the Grandpa was hilarious! Watched it twice - and laughed even harder the second time! See more 06/11/2017 Waste of time! Very few funny parts. See more 06/09/2017 This movie is pure,light-hearted, 80s-cult-film fun! Went to see this with a few friends after many disappointments at the box office and totally felt a bit of John Hughes style filmmaking. Simple story with fun characters and a message. Finally. :) See more Read all reviews
