Bradley Gibson Film Threat Plight is a busy film with a frenetic pace throughout. The solid performances from Plumb, Pasternak, and Manuel drive the melodrama intensely. Rated: 6/10 Jan 12, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Michael P Saw this film off a recommendation from a friend and I must say it had me guessing all the way to the end. It is an independent American film that does not feel like it lacks in scope or scale. While the story was fairly contained it did feature some interesting tie-ins to the "plight" of foreigners immigrating to America. I felt that was rather intriguing given the current state of US politics. The cinematography was top notch, the acting was inspired, and the tension throughout was palpable. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/01/25 Full Review Jessica W Couldn't believe I hadn't heard of this film. What a treat it was to watch! My weekend at the movies I thought would be a little light (Freakier Friday) and a little fierce (Weapons) and it ended up fierce and intense as hell! This movie will absolutely ROCK you to the core if you're not ready for it. Just gut-wrenching but beautiful and poignant. Love the dual storytelling with Pennsylvania and Ukraine. Tons of great performances all around and kept me wondering how it would all wrap up. Had me in absolute tears by the end but who doesn't love a good cry? Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/31/25 Full Review Nigel W It is always a pleasure when I stumble upon a little film with unknowns in every role both on screen and behind the camera, and the film delivers. Excellent visuals, a brooding musical score and power packed performances from actors soon to be discovered. The questioning of our own moral doctrine is what I took away the most. My wife and I spent nearly an hour discussing which of the two leads was in the right and whether their decisions we would make ourselves. Fascinating, independent American film that left us with much to ponder. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/18/25 Full Review Jonathan B For me, Ada steals the show. She's a fantastic actress and also stunningly gorgeous. Besides that, the acting is strong throughout the film. I really liked the atmosphere and mood created, the way the lighting serves the plot, which is original and interesting throughout. People always whine about wanting original movies, well, here is one! You won't regret watching it. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/05/25 Full Review Devin T Pleasantly surprised watching this indie film. Most indie thrillers are fairly predictable. This film kept me on my toes with both tension and curiosity. The beautiful cinematography captured the not so beautiful exteriors of Western Pennsylvania, a mood and tone that certainly contributed to the despair felt by the main characters. It took me back to one of my favorite films from a few years ago, Prisoners. Felt like this was in a similar world. By the end of the film I was shocked to see the resolution and most of all I could not fathom an indie film with such a stellar cast of unknowns. These talented actors and filmmakers won't stay unknown for long! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/03/25 Full Review Brady S Plight is a quintessential thriller that hits the nail on the head for a really well executed indie film on very limited resources. The cast and crew are obviously a very talented team and did a wonderful job with the resources and time they had to make this film. Director M.J. Alhabeeb Jr. clearly knows his stuff, has good taste, and I'm really excited to see more of his work in the future. Indie considerations aside, the story tugs at morals in a very difficult and real human situation, with complex characters and a slow burn to a finish line that proves to be an edge of your seat set piece. It's a well-structured film with solid performances and the mystery tones compliment the thriller beats really well. I'm glad I was able to catch this one at the Orlando Film Festival!
