After a string of bizarre bank robberies in Southern California, with the crooks donning masks of various former presidents, a federal agent, Johnny Utah (Keanu Reeves), infiltrates the suspected gang. But this is no ordinary group of robbers. They're surfers -- led by the charismatic Bodhi (Patrick Swayze) -- who are addicted to the rush of thievery. But when Utah falls in love with a female surfer, Tyler (Lori Petty), who is close to the gang, it complicates his sense of duty.

Kevin Maher Times (UK) ... A near-perfect action film directed by Kathryn Bigelow with frenzied intensity, and it never seeks to patronise its own material or its audience. Aug 19, 2022 Full Review Geoff Brown Times (UK) Keanu Reeves, boringly cocky FBI agent, goes undercover, and off the film lurches into narrative gobbledegook, surfing, and the spiritual utterances of a tanned guru (Patrick Swayze). Aug 17, 2021 Full Review Duane Byrge Hollywood Reporter While the critics may yammer, Point Break delivers the thrills, spills and crunches its action-hungry audience demands. Jul 16, 2019 Full Review Iain Robertson Starburst Ignore the extras, though and get lost in one of the best action movies of the ‘90s. Rated: 4/5 Jul 25, 2024 Full Review Yasser Medina Cinefilia It just has an interesting start with the duel between Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze, but its police plot often drags within it a series of clichés that take away the intrigue effect from its beach, robbery and surfing agenda. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 6/10 Apr 6, 2024 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy The skydiving sequences are spectacular, and they live up to the film’s tagline of “100% Pure Adrenaline.” The rest, however, is 100% Pure Hokum. M B A great action movie that put the law vs bank robbers and puts personal bonds vs moral differences. This is still my favourite movie of all times. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/31/24 Full Review Fabrícia F Romance policial que mistura ação e muita adrenalina. Ingredientes que somado ao talento dos atores e o roteiro uníssono, tornam brilhante essa obra do cinema. Um clássico cult merecidamente. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/23/24 Full Review Sebastian L Fantastic cinematography is pretty much all Point Break has going for it. There are issues everywhere - directorial, tonal, dramaturgical, you name it. The experience is as uneven as Reeves acting. Swayze's performance deserves a better movie. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/17/24 Full Review DanTheMan 2 Come for the guns and money, stay for the sun-baked aphorisms and those big blue waves. Marking the end of British Summer Time with the film that led me to actively pursue surfing as a hobby, Point Break is here to show you that the human spirit is still very much alive. It's not tragic to die doing what you love. A near-perfect action film directed with a frenzied intensity by Kathryn Bigelow and one that never seeks to patronise its own material or its audience, flawlessly marring the genre clichés of the classic '80s-model cop action picture with the elevated physicality of the '90s action films to come. Bigelow showcases not just a great eye for action, but also the psychological push and pull behind it, all complemented by the sumptuous photography of Donald Peterman. Mark Isham's hauntingly eloquent score marrying perfectly to the visuals while Keanu Reeves, Patrick Swayze and Gary Busey all drown in a sea of surf-speak and adrenaline-charged thrills, turning in fantastic performances all around. Majestically powerful, even awe-inspiring, Point Break is a true feast for the eyes and even has enough high-octane, heart-racing excitement for a dozen other films, telling us this is a film without fear of what it wants to be. Fear causes hesitation, and hesitation will cause your worst fears to come true. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/26/24 Full Review timmy b Literally one of the Best Action Films ever made. Corny as some of it might be, the overall film is actually brilliant. The Directing & Cinematography is incredibly beautiful. I think that coupled with the driving music that accompanies the flow of the story elevate the Film the Legendary status. Lori Petty & Patrick Swayze as well as a bevy of passionate actors simply move this film in a way that represents some of the best that we can expect in Cinematic History, critics be damned. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/07/24 Full Review Geke g Its breaking cross cadault. Amazing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/01/24 Full Review Read all reviews
