      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Despite being somewhat more exciting than the previous film, this kiddy flick still lacks any real adventure or excitement. What is does contain is choppy animation and poor voice acting. Doesn't match up to virtually anything out there.

Ryland C While yes, it did have more action scenes than the last movie, it’s not really for me sense there is no messages or emotional moments in this one. Just like the next movie however…… Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/20/24 Full Review Whiteknight89 This was one of my favourite childhood movie and still is for a Pokemon fan you have four great legendary Pokémon a must watch for Pokémon fans to see it's beginning as a franchise Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/28/23 Full Review StephenPaul C Misty should have locked lips with Ash Ketchum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/11/23 Full Review Nick S Lacks the cool factor of Mewtwo but Lugia is still a formidable pokemon to feature in a movie. This is the last "classic" pokemon movie and overall has much better production look than the previous one. I'd recommend for any true Pokemon fan. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/10/23 Full Review StephenPaul C The worst 01 hour: and 21 minutes of anime movie magic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gene Seymour Los Angeles Times This freshly baked and frosted big-screen "Pokemon" goes down with a sweetness that charms without talking down to its audience. Jan 22, 2019 Full Review Mike Emery Austin Chronicle Although the animation is crisp, the story is too apocalyptic to appreciate. Jan 22, 2019 Full Review Nell Minow Common Sense Media Better than the first, but that's not saying much. Rated: 2/5 Dec 27, 2010 Full Review Christy Ellington Christian Science Monitor Where other movies seem bound to treat kids like adults, "Pokemon" allows kids to be kids, and just enjoy a wholesome, entertaining, well thought-out animation.
