Justin Chang Los Angeles Times It's the joy of watching Chan, a Buster Keaton of kickboxing, hurling himself into every stunt with total commitment, astounding athleticism and oddly unflappable, shaggy-haired grace. Mar 7, 2019 Full Review Karen Han Polygon [Chan's] impeccable sense for how to stage a sequence extends to simple conversations, and the films are built around what's possible in terms of action rather than filling in action to support the plot. Dec 28, 2018 Full Review Simon Abrams Village Voice Chan seems to do everything he can think of to ingratiate himself with viewers. Mar 6, 2018 Full Review Diane Carson KDHX (St. Louis) “Police Story” is classic Jackie Chan with a looney-tunes plot all in the service of Chan’s inimitable, superhuman gymnastic and athletic ability. Feb 12, 2024 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand Modern and urban, filled with gritty action and juvenile slapstick, it incorporated Jackie’s brand of acrobatic martial arts (with all its comic flourishes) with big budget set pieces and eye-popping stunts. Oct 28, 2023 Full Review Don Shanahan Cinephile Hissy Fit Podcast Jackie Chan has no equal. Nov 23, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

twitchy b The practical effects and stunts are insane! I'd say show this to anyone who argues for modern cg, but they probably wouldn't have the attention span to read the subtitles. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/24/24 Full Review Jelisije J An average story, but the level of creativity with Jackie Chan comedy and actions scenes defiantly leave a memorable impression upon the viewer. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/13/24 Full Review noah g funny movie and the mall fight was epic Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/24 Full Review Alec B The plot is pure 80s cop clichés, but that's not why anyone would watch this. You're here for Chan's mad brilliance and the stunts in this thing are something to behold. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/24 Full Review Yash B "Police Story" is a great showcase of Jackie Chan's early work, as well as a fun 80s cop movie. I think the film features both an exceptional opening sequence and a finale. I do feel the movie does take a more humorous direction in the middle, and while I prefer the action elements of the movie, I do feel it is consistently entertaining. Despite being a foreign film it still has the cheesy and entertaining feel of any 80s American action vehicle and I think this is a solid movie of that era. Overall, it is light and fun and Jackie Chan's commitment to the action sequences is tremendous and worth watching. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/09/23 Full Review Kev F As much as I like Jackie Chan, I must say the majority of his movies aren't really that great. This, however, is his best and it's worthy to be considered as one of the best movies ever made. Everything that's right about movie-making is in this movie.
