Steve D It has to know how bad it is right? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Sondra Currie stars as a policewoman given a plum assignment after she foils a break out attempt by a bunch of women in lock-up. Somebody is smuggling gold and she is supposed to go undercover to help break up the operation. Sort of ... the plot is set up pretty clearly, but then unfolds at such a leisurely pace that it becomes a bit vague. She's supposed to be going undercover, but she spends a long time hanging out on a boat in Catalina with her macho partner ... and then they have sex ... and then the film remembers that there's supposed to be a police plot going on. The villain is an old woman with a young, kind of ugly muscular boyfriend who employs a small army of bikini clad women to smuggle gold. This doesn't make a ton of sense, but Elizabeth Stuart is pretty amazing as the ruthless old woman running this operation. Writer/director Lee Frost is kind of like a low rent Jack Hill, and that pretty much sums up this film. It's pack full of stuff that would be awesome in a Hill film, and is pretty damn okay here. William Smith has a cool cameo as a karate instructor who gets the tar kicked out of him by Currie. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member It's a fun crime adventure for Sondra Currie's undercover police woman. There's the obligatory sexism by her male colleagues and bad acting all around. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member I feel like I just watched a TV pilot for a show from the 70's & not a movie.I had more fun rewinding parts back just to see where they messed up.The Karate & fight scenes were hilarious. There were also scenes that were suppose to be serious but seemed silly for some reason or another.I guess Policewomen was suppose to be an action/ crime/ drama but because it was so bad it comes off as a comedy more than anything else Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member "You just learned a lesson, girl. Nobody gives a s&%* what happens to a Volkswagen." Fantastic 70s exploitation. Awful acting, condescending attitudes (maybe those women CAN do more than make sandwiches...Maybe), silly plot, and a good deal of skin. It's extremely goofy and on occasion quite brutal. A must for fans of low budget 70s schlock. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member A lot of grindhouse films from the seventies were known for their low budgets, lousy acting, and below-average production values, but the ones that were able to live on and become cult classics (such as "Switchblade Sisters") relished these traits and were as over-the-top and campy as possible, making them a great deal of fun; "Policewomen" is a film that often seems to be on its way to becoming a grindhouse classic, but just doesn't go far enough. It starts off well by delivering a fun prison break sequence, establishing a kick-ass heroine (with a great female action hero name, "Lacy Bond") and introducing an hilariously colorful group of villains: a gang of bikini-clad martial-arts specialists who are lead by a crusty old lady and her much younger bodybuilder husband! Unfortunately, after this promising set-up, the movie becomes rather tepid and bland and, despite a couple of fun fight sequences, builds to a pretty anti-climactic conclusion. It should also be noted that the distributors either provided a deliberately misleading title or were bad at spelling since there's only one policewoman to be found in the film!
