Audience Member Sweet and innocent little gem, just let your spirit take the lead and enjoy it. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review dave s For anyone who has spent their summers holidaying on the shores of Ontario's Georgian Bay, Porcupine Lake will be a refreshing breeze of nostalgia. It's the story of a troubled city girl from Toronto and her relationship with an equally troubled country girl over the course of a few summer weeks. It's all nice enough to look at and will probably make you look back fondly at your own youthful confusion about life, but the movie is deeply hindered by wooden acting by all involved and plenty of uninspired, banal dialogue that really adds nothing to the advancement of the story or the development of the characters. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member It's wholesome but grim at the same time. Nothing is perfect but evolving constantly. Things almost went completely off track but didn't. The close calls that walk the edge take this up to a very interesting film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member A pure and serene teenage drama. Watched the movie with zero expectations, but it turned to be really great. The performances were beautiful as well. Totally a must watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member I didn't say it is a bad film, but too boring and dull for my likeness. Bruce DeMara Toronto Star Indy filmmaker Ingrid Veninger strives earnestly to create an iconic Canadian coming-of-age story. It isn't entirely successful. Rated: 2/4 Feb 22, 2018 Full Review Marsha Lederman Globe and Mail Remarkable performances by the two young actors at the centre of the film -- along with assured, subtle storytelling by director/screenwriter Ingrid Veninger -- propel this cottage country coming-of-age drama. Rated: 3/4 Sep 12, 2017 Full Review Jorge Ignacio Castillo The Canadian Crew Despite the stilted dialogue and some less than polished performances, Porcupine Lake is a charming flick that captures the hazy transition from childhood to puberty... Rated: 2.5/5 Jan 28, 2020 Full Review Alistair Ryder Gay Essential Whether or not its about an intense friendship, or a relationship between two confused young girls, Porcupine Lake is an impressive drama about two characters caught between childhood and a forever elusive emotional maturity. Rated: 3/5 Oct 10, 2019 Full Review Bobby LePire Film Threat Porcupine Lake is a brutally honest coming of age film, whose ending is a gut punch of raw emotions. Rated: 10/10 Sep 20, 2018 Full Review Raquel Stecher Quelle Movies A beautiful sensitive portrayal of love and friendship between two girls on the cusp of womanhood.
