Andrew Heskins easternKicks.com Less a whodunit than why, Philip Yung's film is a stunning look at the darker side of human nature... Rated: 5/5 Sep 24, 2020 Full Review Panos Kotzathanasis Asian Movie Pulse "Port of Call" is a great film that excels in most aspects, through an elaborate combination of crime, character study, social comments, art-house and CAT III aesthetics. Oct 20, 2019 Full Review Jocelyn Lee The New Paper (Singapore) Absorbing and disturbing, Port Of Call is worth a visit. Rated: 3/5 Sep 20, 2017 Full Review John Lui The Straits Times (Singapore) After all the digging around by Chong, there is, cathartically, more than meets the eye in the case, making Ting's murder confession chilling, stomach- turning and also unbearably sad. Rated: 3/5 May 24, 2016 Full Review Edmund Lee South China Morning Post A slow-burning true crime story that only indulges its sensationalistic premise in brief doses, the film weaves a complex web of psychological turmoil around [its] characters. Audience Member Based on a true story in HK. Unlike the usual detective stories I've seen, this is one tragic and depressing story. The film speaks about the reality of failure and depression. A heartbreaking drama but trully memorable. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member A large amount of Cantonese dialogue was not clearly audible despite Cantonese is my mother tongue. I don't blamed the younger actress from mainland China but the dialogues from actors known to be from HK were so hard to listen and I missed a lot of what they were talking about. The recorder or mixer should have some responsibility. Probably need subtitles to watch again if I have the mood. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
