johann m 🇵🇹🇫🇷 This drama follows two expats who experience a brief but intimate connection in the ancient Portuguese city of Porto, and years later, they remain haunted by the connection they shared. Sadly, it's one of Anton Yelchin's last films before his untimely death, and even though it's not very profound, his acting is outstanding, despite the very incoherent plot that just seems to be all over the place. The landscape shots are great, though. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review william k Left field romance beautifully set in Porto (quaintly pictured in bad weather) playfully and a bit irritatingly shifts the perspectives on its story; artful and excellently played but not quite substantial. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Outstanding Cinematography. Story irritating at best, not reproducible, narcissistic. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member If you have loved this quickly and madly you will agree with this film. If you have never loved like this you are going to hate it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/18/18 Full Review Audience Member Between a 5/10 and 6/10, this adds up to less than meets the eye and ear. Leah Pickett Chicago Reader The actors lack chemistry; their romantic connection feels like lust amplified by loneliness. Sep 25, 2018 Full Review Rex Reed Observer It's a typical example of the kind of empty, lunk-headed movies that are made these days by directors who think it's interesting to watch two people walking down the street carrying boxes. Rated: 0/4 Nov 28, 2017 Full Review April Wolfe Village Voice This whole thing is so brazenly a male fantasy... Nov 22, 2017 Full Review Steven Prokopy Third Coast Review There's clearly an extra layer of sadness present that makes the experience of seeing Yelchin at his finest all the more painful and necessary. May 27, 2020 Full Review Mattie Lucas From the Front Row Creates a world of textures and feelings rooted in New Wave aesthetics that linger like wisps of smoke slowly fading into the night air. Rated: 3.5/4 Jun 4, 2019 Full Review Rachel Brook One Room With A View The feature format is misjudged and the screenplay needed some fleshing out, but Porto is elegant, eloquent, and clearly the work of a technically skilled director.
