Synopsis
The talented country music songwriter Billy Joe Shaver has written songs for some of the industry's biggest names -- legends such as Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson -- but has never reached the same level of fame on his own terms as a performer. Delving into Shaver's life story, director Luciana Pedraza examines his turbulent childhood resulting from an abusive father, his struggles with substance abuse and the tragic deaths of his mother, son and wife.
