There are a handful of longueurs in the movie, but mostly this is a director and a lead actor working together without restrictions. Go to Full Review

Karly P @RT99506178 6d I attempted to watch this twice but turned off both times. Just couldn't get engrossed. Not a thriller really, a slow drama. Didn't care enough to see the ending. See more Nic F @munitots Jun 28 Surprised at the low ratings on this – I really enjoyed it. I see how it's not for everyone. It would make an amazing play. It's bone dry and has a Welsh/Scots sensibility that's a bit heavy for a lot of people (loved hearing McAvoy's native tongue, felt way more genuine). The cuts were artfully mismatched with the audio at times, leaning into arthouse territory. It would help if you were of a similar age to McAvoy's character too, to understand what the times he is reminiscing about, were like – I related a lot. Farzad's character was heartbreakingly bound to him in history and nostalgia, she's always great. There were some 'slow' moments, but I was never bored – it helped set tension, mood, really helped understand the spiral McAvoy's character was on. The sex scene people hated, I thought was a well-directed, visceral nightmare, empty, grasping, zero eroticism – necessary to show how grotesque he was finding the spoils of his adoration and fame when paired with his grief. See more Monique H @RT28809342 Jun 27 The irony: a movie about 'bad art'. That is all. See more Lou M @Zipperella Jun 19 Very interesting movie. Acting was on point, the storyline was intriguing, and the ending fit perfectly. Is an enjoyable watch. I just wish they’d shown the last shot. See more Melissa L @Agent99 Jun 18 This was one of those movies I couldn't get into, and turned it off after watching for some time when it didn't get better. See more Jeffrey P @vanillavoodoo1 Jun 15 Slow-burn built mostly on boring dialogue that makes the viewer into a third wheel without much else happening until it suddenly jumps into conflict that doesn’t feel fully warranted. The lead's presence carries it but if you’re waiting for him to take over and save it then you’re going to be disappointed. To top it all off, the end may have been the worst part.
