      Critics Consensus

A lightweight, unambitious comedy, Post Grad features fine actors that can do little with its middling, uninspiring script.

donnie m cute movie-nice to still have movies that that the whole family can watch Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/03/23 Full Review Cathy J It's kind of cute. It was fun seeing Carol Burnette, an old time favorite comedian of mine, and a fellow alumnus from Hollywood High. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/27/23 Full Review steve d Sort of a poor man's Gilmore Girls but Alexis Bledel does her normal fun performance. The central relationship didn't work at all for me. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I love Alexis. She tends to have a subtle humor in her roles, but this film was painful to watch. The film is so fragmented and lacks any true climax. I had to stop maybe three times as I was so bored. There's no build up to a new job, or her budding romance with her best friend. No excitement and no chemistry. There was no feeling of unity with the family. They were probably thinking that we'll just throw Carol Burnett in there for some comedic reprieve, but even her humor was dry and inspiring. I enjoy comedy, but I didn't laugh even one time with this one. One of the worst movies I've seen on Netflix this year. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Decent watch, probably won't watch again, and can't recommend. This movie is an embodiment of Murphy's Law and the fear of not having a job after college, with a "Guy Next Door" cliche mixed in. Immediately upon seeing the situation, there is an obvious conclusion. While Michael Keaton and Jane Lynch are almost always fun, they don't have a lot to do in this: they nail their small, small parts, but there is only so much they can do from that position. Alexis Bledel ("Gilmore Girls") really carries the movie, and she does it well enough: she can certainly lead a movie, I just want to see it in something bigger and better than this. A lot of the movie is so generic that it almost feels like, "they'll get it" is written in the script. It took me about 20 minutest to realize its a college movie, not a high school movie, and it's heavily predictable. It's not that it's a bad movie by any stretch, but there just isn't anything special here, and I really think I'll be arguing with myself in a year about whether or not I've even seen this. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Way too dumb for my taste. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Cliff Doerksen Chicago Reader Director Vicky Jenson has a sitcom script on her hands and proceeds accordingly. Jun 10, 2013 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian There's certainly a lot of material there but none of the comedy works in any way at all and Keaton is a dead zone at the centre of the film. Rated: 1/5 Jan 5, 2010 Full Review Tim Robey Daily Telegraph (UK) Vicky Jenson's attempt at a go-getting romcom is a tragic underachiever on the com front: the rent-a-quirk characters feel like a Little Miss Sunshine tribute act gone wrong.
