Insolia and Riondino are quite perfectly cast. Their characters have soul chemistry and their scenes together are the film’s best. Go to Full Review

While it may not hold up to historical scrutiny, it is escapism at its most elegant. Go to Full Review

Yet, besides a moment of spiteful cruelty, the storyline is as entirely foreseeable as the music is redeemingly sublime. Go to Full Review

kritical K @RT94664587 4h This movie is so damn beautiful. The writing and editing are both handled so well that it's unbelievable. Obviously, the standouts are both Tecla Insolia and Michele Riondinos' performances, they really make the movie. Also my favorite part, (I don't know why these festival movies all have this), the score is magnificent. Most of it is just Vivaldi, but the stuff that is original Is equally as good. The scene where they play Largo RV 207 is honestly one of my favorite back and forth music scenes. If I had to pick a complaint it's that the cinematography looks a bit bland and in turn that makes a lot of the period dressing look significantly worse than it actually is. Still amazing though.
