Anton Bitel Sight & Sound It has a few too many twists for my taste, pushing its already overdetermined plot beyond all grounded credulity, but its point about the bunkered politics of fear is well made. Apr 27, 2016 Full Review Chris Knight National Post Despite some nifty plot twists, the story feels loose, and lacks a sense of urgency. Maybe it worked better on paper? Rated: 2/4 Apr 15, 2016 Full Review Norman Wilner NOW Toronto The new sci-fi thriller Prisoner X has not learned the lessons of Primer, and that's a shame, because it's treading similar ground. It has a good idea, but no idea how to execute it. Rated: 1/5 Apr 13, 2016 Full Review Read all reviews

Claudio C Prisoner X (2016) The Time Traveling Terrorist (11,742 – 03 Jun 2025 – by Claudio Carvalho) In 2002, a Muslin terrorist (Romano Orzari) is captured and brought to an underground facility to be interrogated by CIA Agent Fischer (Damon Runyan) and the prison director Jefferson (Julian Richings). The prisoner provides information about the future, and Fischer and Jefferson conclude he came from the future. Fischer, who grieves the loss of his wife and son, becomes obsessed by the terrorist. He claims that ninety-nine terrorists led by the unknown Abraham have arrived in India and Stephen tries to solve an equation to build a time travel machine. In 2017, agent Carmen (Michelle Nolden), who is on leave from the agency, receives a phone call from Fischer, who was her mentor and lover, summoning her to work with him. When she arrives at the facility, she finds that Stephen apparently committed suicide. She meets the prisoner, who is living in a small room, and talks to him. Soon she learns that he makes people become paranoid and becomes to have strange dreams. When she meets the USA President Charles Turner (Nigel Bennett), she asks for license to deal with the problem the way she believes is right. “Prisoner X” (2016) is a confused Canadian movie about a time traveling terrorist sent to a maximum-security facility to be interrogated. The idea is original and interesting, but the messy non-chronological screenplay is awful and hard to be followed. There are several subplots to fill the story totally unnecessaries or at least to be better developed. In the end, watching “Prisoner X” is a loss of time. My vote is five. Well done Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member The production itself doesn't have the bang to captivate through action or eye candy. But the film stays engaging through an entertaining story solidly sold by a convincing cast. It may even take the entire 85 minutes to realize that "Prisoner X" accomplishes so much with so little. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Whilst it had a good story, I found it a bit monotone. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member This film was a great surprise! Suspenseful with a superb twist. Go Canada! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews
