Audience Member As with any of these Roger Corman produced Nurse features, this one has a lot going on to justify its existence as a vehicle to show some skin, so we have a foursome of bed hopping nurses who find themselves involved in a variety of topical stories, from racism, drugs and even murder. Worth a look if you dig the retro stuff and want a little more plot with your casual love scenes. Rental. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member George Armitage writes and directs one of the better entries in Corman's nurses series. Like all of them, it blends some earnest story lines with plenty of light nudity. This some of the better stories (second only to "Candy Stripe Nurses") and supporting roles for Paul Gleason from "The Breakfast Club", Dennis Redfield from "Dead and Buried" and Herbert Jefferson Jr. from "Battlestar Galactica". The band Sky that appears throughout the film features Doug Fieger who would go on to form The Knack. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member This is considered to be the worst of the Corman Nurses movies. If this is the worst I can't wait to watch the other ones. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member The second of Roger Corman's Nurse productions, Private Duty Nurses is more serious melodrama than sexual hijinks following the formula of three nurses discovering tragic romance amongst the patients and doctors. Personally I prefer the whacky antics of Candy Stripe Nurses to this far-too-serious narrative involving racist hospitals, Flashbacking Vietnam Vets, and Turkish terrorist gun battles. At the very least it could have used a little more kung fu like the Stewardess pictures. But small roles from Paul Gleason (The Breakfast Club!) and the sniveling screeching Paul Hampton (More Dead Than Alive!) keep things interesting. VF.
