Rachel Wagner rachelsreviews.net I guess that [it's] a message about war but not particularly inventive or thought provoking in my opinion. Rated: C- Apr 15, 2019 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film It's technically impressive and the amount of work that has gone into it is awe inspiring. Liam S This is the last thing he made. :[ Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/20/24 Full Review Audience Member While I can't say I was truly blown away by the last project Richard Williams worked on before he passed away (which was meant to set up a second masterpiece that will never come to be seeing how he kicked the bucket back in 2019), what makes Prologue worth watching is its really fluid animation and realistically drawn combat that shows how dedicated to his work this man was. It offers a good look at whatever he was planning to work on could have been but I can't say I was as blown away by the quality as animated shorts targeted towards younger audiences than the Oscar-nominated Prologue. Also, Mr. Williams, I could've gone about my day without seeing a guy's junk get utterly destroyed, thank you very much. Some things cannot be unseen. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member For Richard Williams's final film, this is an impressive work of art that fully embraces the spirit of hand-drawn animation with the brutality of a four-way battle in the eyes of a little girl. It should be a must-watch for anyone who loves animation and for fans of the late Richard Williams. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member A breathtaking work of dedicated and detailed work that demonstrates the greatest that hand drawn animation can be. An amazing animated film by a master animator. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member The animation in this is fantastic. Traditional animation should still exist. It's been so underrated these days due to 3D animated films becoming bigger successes. In this however, there's a lot of greatness in it. Simple, but beautiful. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Nominated for Best Short Animated Film at the Oscars. Amazing short that looks like it was hand sketched. Violent look at ancient war. Does away with thousands of soldiers and gets close to just a few people in lifelike hand to hand combat. Spartans and Athenians fight for dominance.
