Rick Groen Globe and Mail Mainly the film is obliged to circle around the absent centre of the conflict, the dark heart of the very issue under scrutiny. Consequently, like a skinny boy in an oversized tux, it has to pad. Rated: 2/4 Nov 13, 2009 Full Review Kari Croop Common Sense Media Inspiring docu tackles a tough topic: racism. Rated: 4/5 Dec 19, 2010 Full Review Liz Braun Jam! Movies Despite the subject matter, Prom Night In Mississippi is surprisingly buoyant with the hope and joy of these kids. Audience Member Times change but the pace is painfully slow in Charlestown, Mississippi as the high school's first racially integrated prom shows. Documentary would have been better with more commentary from the parents, who are the problem here, not the students. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member This could have been way better. I mean, I love what they were trying to do and I think it's ridiculous that segregated proms still exist, but the movie lacked any real depth. It was just about having an integrated prom in the school. No reflection on the fact that we're all a part of one world and we all live under the same sun. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Prom Night in Mississippi details Morgan Freemanâ(TM)s attempts to hold an integrated at Charleston High School. Freeman had offered to pay for an integrated prom if the school would end the tradition of separate proms for whites and blacks. In 2008, the school finally accepted the actorâ(TM)s offer. The film showcases the human reactions of the students as they look forward to this unique event. Many opponents - who believe that their views are entirely justified - also speak on camera. Although there are minor bumps in the road, the event goes off without a hitch and the students grow closer as a result. The two groups shared many more traits than they gave each other credit for. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member not very good it didn't get my attention Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Great documentary gets the point across that everybody should be equal. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member This documentary should be shown in high schools. It's a eye opener Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Read all reviews
