Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald It's not a particularly stylish film... But there's a simmering good humor to it and a sense of reality that turns its ordinariness into a virtue. Rated: 3.5/5 Oct 23, 2019 Full Review Mel Campbell ScreenHub Promised lacks sophistication and craft ... Still, there's something charming about this film ... an imperfect movie that nonetheless captures something that feels real and valuable. Rated: 3/5 Dec 11, 2019 Full Review David 'Mad Dog' Bradley Adelaide Review There is a migrant story here perhaps worth telling, as well as a study of changing socio-cultural mores and the rise of feminism, but it's all so drably done that even the staunchest Aussie cinema groupie might struggle to care... Nov 5, 2019 Full Review Doug Jamieson The Jam Report While 'Promised' may not have the depth, it certainly has the heart. Rated: 3/5 Oct 27, 2019 Full Review Matthew Pejkovic Matt's Movie Reviews Offers a nuanced exploration into an outdated practice, it's effect on a community, and the relationship between a couple at a crossroad in their lives. Helga Y It is an amazingly romantic movie. I would watch it again how true love comes in unexpected arranged marriage!!!!parents knows best ! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/27/23 Full Review Craig N I liked Promised, although the end was way too sudden. They definitely could have developed the main characters more and grown the story with a larger family and more about their marriage and careers. This could be remade in America because it happens here too. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Incoherent script, most actors mumbling their dialogues, clumsy directing and lazy editing, clichees lashed on relentlessly...what is there to like? Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Real tear jerker but beautifully done makes you see reality of horrible Alzheimer's on patient and families Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member LOVED it! Had to watch it about 10 times because of their accents. I over the chemistry between Angela and Robert. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
